Hi Everyone! Sandra here, new to the Nursa community. Great to be here! I do have a few questions though… Are nurses oriented to the facility the first day so we know where everything is? Are we allowed to go ahead of time and get familiar with the layout of the building, med room, and other things we need to know before we start. I just feel a lot of time is wasted just trying to figure out things at the beginning of shift and take away from patient care if we don’t know where things are or how their charting system works, etc… I would appreciate any help with answering these questions. Thank you! 😊

Can anyone tell me how to get a badge and also when payday is and why I cannot find info on jobs close to me without going through a long list of pages?

I had picked up a shift that was over a hour away, when I got there they had put me in a COVID section. I had talked to the coordinator about not working that hall and asked if they could move me to a hall that does not have COVID. Long story short she told me 'I don't know what to tell you, I'll repost and find someone else to work the shift' I have 7 autoimmune diseases, I won't pick up shifts that has the 'COVID' tag. My body is already attacking its self daily, I don't want nor need to add to it if I'm able to avoid it. Which I can not avoid if the facilities ARE NOT ADDING THE COVID TAG TO THEIR POSTINGS. I lost out not only on 335 dollars, b…

When I first started with Nursa I liked the fact that I could pick up shifts Sunday through Saturday and get paid that following Thursday. It made it easier to plan out my work, I knew how much I needed to make that week, how many hours I needed to pick, a long with how many days, all based on which bills are due and when. Now I don't know how many hours or days I need to pick up. What days will be deposited. How much to put into my bill account, savings and spending. Mainly HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE THE FACILITY TO APPROVE MY HOURS. Which is now based on when we get paid for that shift. I am a financially organized female and I can not be if the pa…

Has anyone else experienced facilities calling you out due to having floor staff wanting to pick up, but refusing to cancel the shift on their end? I have recently learned that if a facility cancels a shift within 48hours of the start time of the shift beginning, they still have to pay the payout for posting the shift; if we as workers cancel, we are locked for 2 weeks. Recently I have had 3 shifts by 2 facilities contact me the night before & 2hrs before the shift started, or sent me home, but refuse to cancel the shift on their end, thus locking me till the end of the shift time and preventing me to pick up due to being scheduled already. One facility threatened to …

It will be nice if picking up a shift will be first come first served because ever since I started working for Nursa I’ve only worked four times because facilities either have their own people they like to approve or something else. There is a plethora of CNAs and everybody waiting on one shift without certainty of getting it is frustrating.

I know we had gone to two days a week of being paid. Today when it said when I would get paid for a shift it said I wouldn't get paid till the 9th with the 7 days from now. Now I'm worried that it changed and I didn't know. I never got an email regarding the first change to twice a week so now I'm worried that I didn't get the email about it changing back.

I use to love this app but here lately it’s been impossible to get shifts and facilities cancel you when you want send you home when they want and expect you to show up and be happy because you got a shift and can block you anytime they want I’m about to be done for a little while because it isn’t fair that they can do that and you have no reason why

I often work by myself and just curious about other cna’s. How many residents are you comfortable working with? And how many do you think is too many alone? Include which shift.

As a 1099 worker, taxes can be tricky. We are working on a guide to help you this year with information about receiving your 1099 this year. What questions do you have about how you will receive the form this year or anything you need to do? Drop them below! Note: Nursa cannot offer tax advice; if you need tax advice, or are unsure about your unique tax situation, we recommend reaching out to a tax professional.

We have had this question asked by multiple nurses and want to throw it to the group. When you are working at a facility and feel it is unsafe (for any reason) and are concerned about your license, what do you do?

I feel as though these facilities have free reign, they're able to do whatever they want to us. I've been left in compromising positions so many times I can't even count. Being left alone with 40 plus residents with no help at this place called Western hills in lakewood, being threatened by facilities fir not staying till the late people that work there come, they can even no call/ no show us if they don't like us. No one really suffers but the residents, and all we can do is " Don't book with them." If that's the only place in a decent distance then we just can't make money, when nursa calls they never pick up. They really can do whatever they want, give us the more diffi…

It’s Halloween time...has anyone had an experience at work that gave you goosebumps? I had an experience a couple of days with a resident that, to this day, gives me goosebumps when I think about it—just a bit of background. I am half Asian and half Northwestern European. I identify as Asian because I grew up In an Asian household and community. Filipinos are superstitious believers in signs and spirits. This past Friday, I worked the 6p-6a shifts at a facility here in Arizona. Most residents under my care have some cognitive impairment and varying severity. I use a penlight when I do rounds, especially if they are asleep because I want to ensure they are not in any …

I’m new to nursa. Since being on nursa I’ve requested so many different positions as a CNA that were available 3 and 4 days prior. The day of my shifts I receive a notification saying my shift is already filled. Then an hour before that scheduled shift. I’m asked if I am still available to work the shift. (No, because once I was told filled. I went to my day job for work).Which shows someone the facility gave the position to they called in. I’m having a hard time understanding this. It seems to be a bit unprofessional and misleading. This should be a first come first serve situation. I am so grateful that I did not leave my day job to become an continuous employee with n…

So as nurses, death is due to be a part of our lives. It would be good to be able to talk about death and how it affects us. There's nobody else that can relate to us than us... Another important topic is taxes. It's important for people, especially New nurses to registry, to plan and be prepared for having to pay them. It can be an overwhelming shock to "do" your taxes and find out that you owe thousands of dollars you probably don't have, due to being independent contractors. My tax accountant recommended paying them quarterly by buying vouchers from the Treasury dept...how does everyone else deal with it?

Hey nurse peeps, went to the Arizona Nurse's Association Conference last weekend and was actually shocked by how much the association has done for nurses. I've never really been engaged in an official nurse association before and honestly thought it wasn't worth the money to join, but I was quite wrong, haha. Some of the things they talked about having done in the past year included: legislation they pushed to decrease smoke exposure in the OR (and prevent lung cancer for nurses!), creating a school nurse residency program, and setting up a mental health support system for nurses in Arizona. Those are just a few of the things they've done-- consider me shooketh. …

Facility’s can, do and will demoralize, flag/negatively report (maliciously and with I’ll intent) a clinicians reputation with other staff members, participating facilities across the entire NURSA plateform. This includes ALL states! However, clinicians are limited to what we can see, access to app features we’re blocked from. Comments and reputations by facility’s are not shared with clinicians and there’s no intent to. Clinicians are subject to an unlawful 14 day ban for a cancellation. We are told we are 1099’s, independent contractors etc. But we are not. We are hired on as per diem, and qualify for the same rights as an employee. This is a problem on a stat…

What are your top safety tips you do on shift to avoid making mistakes? How do you prevent errors? Let's share and help each other be our best clinician selves. For me I always liked to try to stay organized so as not to mix up patients when you have so much going on.
