Never Give Up! My mom died during my first year of nursing school and my first semester of clinical. I took a week off, and I was shocked that I didn't test out my clinical skills; I told my lab instructor, and she scolded me and told me I wasn't exempt that week due to death. I tested out of the clinical, but I survived. It was a hard school and only 14 of the original 36 students survived Nursing: 101. The school cared more about its 100% NCLEX pass rate than it did about fixing the nursing shortage.
