Qualities of a good nurse

In your opinion, what are the qualities that make nurses stand out? What makes a good nurse?

 

Maybe patients have different opinions, so, as nurses, what do you think?

Hands down one of the best qualities of a good nurse is one who helps out -whether it's for other nurses or their CNAs, a good nurse doesn't just sit at the desk playing on their phone (which happens rarely if time permits - but more often certain times of day or on certain units) without getting the call light as it's not "their patient" or letting the CNA get it.

You're right; when nurses are really invested in their work and are always looking out for their patients, all nurses on the team can feel it.

I think strong communication skills and attention to detail are qualities that make nurses stand out.
