Karin Zonneveld
September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the growing epidemic of obesity among children in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past four decades and now affects 1 in 5 children in the US. Nurses play a crucial role in addressing childhood obesity in our communities and advocating for policies and programs that support healthy lifestyles for children. Nurses have the power to educate, empower, and support families in making positive changes to prevent and manage childhood obesity. By addressing childhood obesity, we can help prevent these negative outcomes and improve the overall health and well-being of our future generation.
