What to do when disrespected or abused by your patients?

Abusive behaviors (verbal or physical)  by patients or workers should be reported immediately up the chain of command. The facility is responsible for having a plan that can be implemented immediately.

Your responsibility is to communicate with supervisors, document the incident per facility policy and have patient's care reassigned.

Oh, you are so brave! Dealing with difficult patients can be complicated sometimes, and it is one of the biggest challenges for healthcare workers.
I also wonder, when you have a difficult day with a particularly difficult patient, how you get rid of that before going home. Or, how you avoid letting it all out on your loved ones?
