Night shifters - What Day is It?

If you work night shift, what day is it? Let's say you go in at 7pm Friday night and leave at 7am Saturday morning - do you consider that working a Friday or Saturday in your frame of mind?

Great question, I am a night owl, so I would probably do well working the night shift!

For all practical purposes, I would say I'm working Friday. If you're making plans with friends, you'll have to tell them you're working Friday, but you could still meet up on Saturday. How long do you sleep after a night shift? Would you make lunch plans for that Saturday, or would you be out of commission until the evening?

Exactly - I always feel like it's a Friday if I go in Friday night - but most hospitals consider a Friday night working Saturday. I like the hospitals that consider your weekend obligation Saturday and Sunday night to go in, and not Friday and Saturday night to go in.
