  1. Why do ya'll think that so few nurses are men? I recently learned that less than 10% of nurses are male! Knew there weren't very many, but that is super low!
  2. You have to remember they are humans and have human emotions too. Be confident but not abrasive or entitled. Sometimes you get a real gem of an administrator who wants to help. I've been lucky to work with some good ones. Sometimes they have power to make a difference, sometimes not so much. I do think you can look for opportunities for improvement and come up with solutions. That is huge! Don't come with problems, they get enough of that. Be willing to try for something that could help and be willing to lead it.
  3. Do you use anything to hold your goods while you work? AKA pens, note pad, alcohol pads, flushes, etc..
  4. Do you guys have any resources for help with resumes? tips or tricks to make myself more appealing for picking up shifts?
  5. What is the process for beginning to pick up hospital shifts with Nursa? I've only ever done long term care. Also, I live in UT if that helps because it's probably a little different in other states, I'm assuming? 🤔
  6. @Paola Juarez I agree, I hate choosing because you really do need both!!!
  7. I love that you asked this Deserae, this is a huge question I have wondered being a nurse myself. Why stay and why do my fellow nurses stay? TBH I have been in nursing for about 5.5 years now and its tough. I have been wandering away from bedside more and more over the last couple years but I do miss it. I think you feel important as a nurse and like you can bring value to this world. And medicine is just fascinating if you take the short staff, politics, and hard hours out of it. There's really nothing cooler.
  8. What the processes are-you don't know until you know and sometimes its just a matter of figuring out what is where and who to turn to for help. That's what I am scared of.
  9. Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I'll keep this in mind and I agree its important to take advantage of the other people who know the place.
  10. I think its important to keep extra snacks on you... never know just how long your day is going to be!
  11. Hi, I'm newish to the app and was thinking about picking up long term care shifts. Does anyone have any advice as to what to expect, how to physically or mentally prepare, etc...
  12. Cardiac unit, i just love the heart. Or should I say I heart the heart?! 💔 My mom has a really bad heart condition and so its always been really interesting to me.

    Just a joke

    hahahah that's horrible but good!
  14. That's interesting.. I would be curious. I know as a nurse I felt like 4 was plenty to keep me busy but that was in hospitals. I think it makes it really hard/unsafe to be spread too thin. Mornique how many residents do you have on an average shift?
