  1. I think nurses and doctors get a bad rap just because people have their own fantasies about them or preconceived ideas. I have worked in very professional and safe environments and if my colleagues were cheating, it's not like it was with each other, talked about, or common by any means.
  2. Me!! Nursa Ratched scares the crap out of me. Why? Because spiteful crazy nurses such as her exist IRL 🫠
  3. Love this information, and I agree that working in both settings is valuable for both personal and professional growth.
  4. SRNAs can earn good money especially if they pick up PRN jobs. Check out this resource. https://nursa.com/blog/what-is-an-srna-and-salary
  5. I love this idea and think it would be very useful for comparison, especially if one is thinking about strategic relocation.
  6. Before I became a nurse, I used to make patchwork clothes, and it came out to be higher or the same as what I earned when I became a nurse! That was before Etsy but I have sold a lot of clothing at events and on ebay! PRN nursing is great for those with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  7. Covered for me so I could take a lunch break off the unit! Just joking, but not... No for real though, I went to a PRN shift at a local hospital and the woman who precepted me for 8 hours on day shift was my ex-boyfriend's mother! She was literally one of the main reasons I became a nurse and she treated me with such kindness and we had an amazing day. It had been years since I saw her, and she was in my life when my mom died when we used to work together at a nursing home and I was in nursing school, and she was a huge support for me when that happened. I can easily say that was my favorite day at work ever.
  8. My grandmother died of Alzheimer's. She had it 14 years and average life expectancy is 7 years following diagnosis, so I am grateful that I had that time with her.
  9. Download Nursa, verify your license, and search for shifts of course! I know it can be frustrating as it took a while for my state of Ohio to start posting shifts, but I have been finding steady PRN jobs near me for at least 4 months or more.
  10. I am an RN in Ohio and I don't add up the annual wage as I often do soft nursing in the sense that I might work only 2 days a week and take a couple of months off at a time, but I make easily $500-$600 for a 12-hr shift.
  11. I love this so much! I wish my mother was able to recover from her drug addiction. Unfortunately, she died just two weeks after leaving rehab. I am so proud of all my friends and family back in Ohio who were able to get clean and stay clean. Our state has been impacted by the opioid crisis incredibly hard.
  12. It's not always great going into people's homes, but sometimes home health is a slick way of working half a day and getting a full day's pay as you're paid based per home visit. I love driving as well. However, picking up PRN shifts is a great way to bank $500 to $600 for working 12 hours as an RN.
  13. Absolutely! Every nurse has the opportunity to make a difference, whether through compassionate care, patient education, or advocating for safety. Even small acts can leave a lasting impact on patients and their families. Each shift presents unique chances to enhance outcomes and foster a supportive environment. Let’s recognize the power we hold in our roles!
