How can nurses help with the damage of Hurricane Helene?

Karin Zonneveld

Question

At least 215 people are known to have died as a result of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene since it made landfall in Florida a week ago, and nurses can play a crucial role in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

Nurses can volunteer in the most affected areas, with direct care or mental health support. In the long term, they can also participate in recovery programs and advocate for resources.

Were you affected by Hurricane Helene? What else do you consider nurses can do to help?
